My uncle Joe was the uncle who was always stopping in for a visit or calling on the phone. After he passed away, one of his brothers said that he wished he could talk on the phone with Joe just once more. While I was in Nashville recording the new album, we had The McCrary Sisters in to do some singing. I thought as a surprise for my mum I would record the song with them singing so she could have a proper recording of it. I never intended for this song to end up on the album but my manager convinced me otherwise. I got the chance to make this video a few weeks ago in Nashville. I love getting to sing with The McCrarys. Sitting across from them and their harmonies is a sound to behold.
Last July, I went into Southern Ground studios in Nashville with producer, Steve Dawson, and laid down 13 tracks for my new album. Halfway Home by Morning goes worldwide on March 22nd. I’m over the moon excited for you all to hear what we cooked up down there. You can hear a couple songs now to give you a taste of what is to come. Turn it up loud. #halfwayhomebymorning
If you have ever wanted to see me sing in a old sailor bar on the Hamburg waterfront, here’s your chance. Ina Müller joins me for “I’m Giving In” when I was a guest on Inas Nacht on my last tour in Germany. Can’t wait to get back to Germany in October! Tickets and info here.
I’m on tour in the US right now, which means it’s time for an update to my ‘On the Road‘ Spotify playlist, including songs from brilliant artists like Susan Tedeschi of Tedeschi Trucks Band and Ruthie Foster. A chill listen on these ones, hope you like it:
