BBQ
Just waiting to board my plane for the UK. Heading there for a couple of weeks then home to take some time off. Sort of. I'm going to play my first gig in Massey Hall opening for Buddy Guy. I can't wait for this show. I've been trying to catch Buddy for years. Back to the East Coast after that for the ECMA's in Charlottetown. This will be a guaranteed good time.
It's been a while since I've left a message here, and lots has happened. I recorded a Christmas album and finished up my fourth tour with Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe. In early January I went down to Woodstock, NY to Levon Helm Studios and recorded a new album with Colin Linden producing. Even got Garth Hudson to play on a track. A couple of weeks after that I got to play on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise. Hanging on a boat in the Caribbean for a week playing tunes and listening was an amazing experience. I got to see Taj Mahal four times.
In February I hooked up with my good friend Mike Stevens and we recorded another album together in Banff, AB. Ten new songs. So there is lots of new music to come in the next few months.
Oh, also I won two Maple Blues Awards. Entertainer of the Year and Acoustic Act of the Year. A very cool experience and a great chance to hang with some good friends and musicians.
After my time off I'll be getting into the swing of summer and on the road pretty steady. Lots of cool shows and festivals this year. They'll be posted on my site shortly.
I've got to say I'm looking forward to my time off, but am also looking forward to seeing everybody over the summer.
Get yer BBQ tongs out(unless you're like me and don't put them away)and get ready for the summer fun.
